Summary
One of the sources available to the parks department for new park construction is based on proximity of parks to new residential construction sites that are levied a parks fee. Providing a consistent, easy, and equitable analysis for finding which funds are available, and therefore which parks can be developed, requires several interlinked GIS factors. NSG was engaged to build a GIS computing infrastructure (including ArcSDE and ArcGIS Server); compile data from several sources and establish routines for keeping them up to date; create an accurate parks layer; and establish ModelBuilder models, Python scripts, ArcObjects programs and user interfaces to automate the process.
