Web GIS Development
NorthSouth GIS specializes in the development of GIS Web sites and Web Services. We have created over 15 GIS Web sites over the years, using MapObjects IMS, ArcIMS, and most recently ArcGIS Server. Our clients are primarily local and state governments, non-profits, service providers and natural resource companies.
In addition to customer-hosted Web sites, NorthSouth GIS also hosts a number of GIS Web sites that it has developed for its clients, on an ASP model. In such cases, we also host clients’ data in geodatabases, and occasionally maintain clients’ data as well.
Most often our Web sites provide public access to government data in a variety of ways, but a number of our sites are also provided as intranets, with sophisticated Web-based editing of spatial data.
Although our Web sites are focused on GIS, we also build Web systems and interfaces to related information systems, such as Business Intelligence (BI) and Document Management Systems. Consequently, we are accustomed to working with entrepreneurs who want to integrate spatial technology into their Web concepts, or to improve existing non-spatial Web sites.
In the past few years we have found that more and more clients ask us to write Web Services built around GIS, rather than creating traditional GIS Web sites. We have created sophisticated Web and Windows Services that provide high volume, analytical processes around GIS, while our clients created the Web sites themselves, often without any map displays at all.
NorthSouth GIS can help you navigate the complex and sometimes confusing decision process that is required to arrive at a productive strategy for GIS Web deployment. We can turnkey and even host your site, or create components that your own programmers can use in their own developments. We can help you migrate your ArcIMS Web site to ArcGIS Server. Or we can customize a system of integrated desktop and Web components.
