NSG has been awarded contract extension to build Phase III of the Port of Los Angeles Enterprise GIS

Los Angeles, CA - May 5, 2011 - The Board of Harbor Commissioners of the Port of Los Angeles has approved a contract extension that will allow NorthSouth GIS LLC ("NSG") to execute Phase III of the Enterprise GIS System that NSG began building in 2009. NSG, the prime contractor on this project, had completed the award winning system for the port in early 2010, and had been providing support services since then. With this contract extension NSG will build on the earlier success of the system, which made it possible for Esri and Autodesk users to collaborate in maintaining geographic information at the port, and to share work between different divisions at the port with the port's nearly 1,000 employees. While the earlier phases connected data, applications and users from the police, engineering, real estate, planning and environmental divisions, this phase will connect additional divisions such as construction & maintenance. It will upgrade and enhance the tools at the disposal of all users, make the data available to staff away from their desktop computers, add more map and data layers to the geoPOLA map viewer, and make it possible for police to track more lie data sources in the system. Phase III is scheduled to run through the third quarter of 2012.
